15 Years of Developing Leaders in North Carolina’s Rural Communities
Thank you so much for joining us at this year’s virtual networking reception and award presentation!
We knew that this year’s Jim Bernstein Health Leadership Event was going to be challenging after COVID made it impossible to gather in person. However, we should have known that long-time attendees, new and long-term sponsors, our die-hard colleagues, and our dedicated partner organizations would not would not let down the future leaders of rural North Carolina. From the heartfelt tidings of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and Secretary of NC DHHS Dr. Mandy Cohen, as well as the inspirational words of our award winners, Dr. Jane McCaleb and Dr. Peter Morris, the entire event was the perfect opportunity to reflect on the work being done to elevate and celebrate rural life in our state.
The virtual reception was a big hit, allowing 75+ rural community advocates to catch up, make new connections, and just generally fraternize with one another about the interesting year they had. The main event began with a virtual to the 150 attendees who helped us raise nearly $50,000 in support of the Jim Bernstein Community Health Leadership Fellows, and the Jim & Sue Bernstein Health Center Scholarship program, both of which focus on developing rural leaders of tomorrow.
If you were unable to join us for the main event, you can still experience the inspirational stories from others who are working to bring equitable access to quality healthcare for all North Carolinians. View the Vimeo recording now.
You can still submit a donation to support the Jim Bernstein Community Health Leadership Fellows Program and the Jim & Sue Bernstein Health Center Scholarship Program – both of which are instrumental in fulfilling the Bernsteins’ legacy of developing future leaders in our state and supporting health initiatives that benefit all citizens. Please help support this important work!
